With the growing competition in the real estate industry, the traditional for sale by owner option or FSBO becomes less attractive. Both sellers and buyers have favored turning to real estate professionals for help to effectively market their properties. As for the sellers, they prefer to transact with a group of agents called Realtors. So, what makes a real estate agent different from a Realtor in Toronto?
The title Realtor means that the agent is a member of the National Association of Realtors or NAR which is the real estate trade organization that governs the industry players. NAR ensures that its members follow its high ethical standards and trains them to be the most effective professionals in the industry. There are over two million licensed real estate agents in the U.S. but only about half of them can be called Realtors.
A Realtor in Toronto does not automatically mean a real estate agent. This is because apart from real estate agents, there are also other professionals who are engaged in the industry such as home appraisers, property managers, real estate brokers, and counselors. They can also become part of the NAR and thus, can be referred to as Realtors.
What makes this title so attractive for both buyers and sellers alike is its adherence to the strict code of ethics of NAR and its high standards of practice. Their professional code of ethics is annually revised to include the most recent legal issues governing real estate practice. While the selling or buying agents’ major responsibility is to their clients, Realtors must never mislead anybody involved in their transaction. They are bound to treat all parties to their real estate transactions honestly.
It is this ethics code of NAR that particularly distinguishes a Realtor in Toronto from non-members. It is this high reputation of NAR that makes a Realtor more attractive. Who would not be if they are obliged to treat everyone fairly and with honesty? So, if you are looking for a Realtor, look no further because Pavel is Toronto’s trusted Realtor.
