There are many industries that utilize the power of pumps to get the work done. Likewise, there are also many types of pumps that can deliver a wide array of functions. A rotary vane pump is a kind of a pump which is very useful in different situations and in various fields. This kind of pump is very valuable in many industrial applications such as automotive, medical and chemical laboratories.
How Rotary Vane Pump Works
A rotary vane pump works on a principle of positive-displacement to move the medium which passes through its housing. There are a series of vanes inside the pump that is slotted into the rotating rotor, which in turn, is being offset from the center of the housing. This is what causes the eccentricity force that once the rotor rotates, the vanes are forced to move in and out the slotted rotor through centrifugal force. The vanes then seal off the cylinder, creating the vane chambers that have increased volume when rotated on the intake side of the pump.
The working chambers are being filled with the fluid that is forced in by the pressure from the atmosphere. On the discharge side of the pump, the volume in the vane chambers is decreasing which forces the fluid out of the pump. With each rotation, the same volume of fluid is being driven out by the vane that comes in any length and depth, making the pump highly flexible in size and pumping volume.
This is for this reason that a rotary vane pump is very useful in many applications such as espresso and soft drink dispensing machines and the operation of air conditioning units. And best of all, you can outfit the pump in a way that perfectly suits your intended purpose regardless of which industry you are in.
