Passive Welding Filters Are Still Viable

There is no question that welding can be a very dangerous job. This is primarily due to the heat that the torch emits which can seriously cause harm to the welders. Thus, welders need to wear protective gear every time they perform the task. One critical piece of protective equipment they need to use is the protective lens. It helps protect the eyes of a welder while still enabling them to see clearly through the lens. This protective lens comes in two options: auto darkening and passive welding filter. Though the former has become quite popular nowadays, there are compelling reasons why a passive filter still works better.

Firstly, passive welding filters are optically sound which makes the welder see clearly the details of his work even behind their helmet. Remember that welding involves details to achieve the best results. A passive welding filter allows the welders to see the detailed points of the product they weld. This improves their performance, resulting in a more satisfied finished product.

Moreover, though auto-darkening filters can adjust the intensity of the light, they can’t do it for all levels of light depending on the welding task involved. On the other hand, passive filters can be switched out to use the most suitable one for the job. So, if the welder requires a specific shade according to particular light level, he can simply swap the welding filter with the right one without buying a new lens.

Lastly, in terms of price, a passive welding filter is a cost-effective option. It is much more inexpensive compared to auto-darkening filters that can be costly to replace or repair. If the unit malfunctions, you need to have a complete replacement while passive filters can be easily swapped out. Stocking multiple of them is economical and is more convenient.
