On the other hand, passive filters can be switched out to use the most suitable one for the job. So, if the welder requires a specific shade according to particular light level, he can simply swap the welding filter with the right one without buying a new lens.
Lastly, in terms of price, a passive welding filter is a cost-effective option. It is much more inexpensive compared to auto-darkening filters that can be costly to replace or repair. If the unit malfunctions, you need to have a complete replacement while passive filters can be easily swapped out. Stocking multiple of them is economical and is more convenient.
