How to Prevent Damaging Effects of Vibration?

In many industrial machines, vibrations seem to be a natural phenomenon. In fact, some amount of vibration might be helpful. Yet, in general, vibrations that are not controlled to the right frequency level can bring serious mechanical issues. High levels of vibration would make a machine produce undesirable noises and can even cause the machine to stop working together and finally break down. This is where a vibration dampener becomes important in all areas of engineering.

Without getting so scientific, it helps to know what vibration is and how it should be dampened. Essentially, vibration is what makes a machine move back and forth. It happens when a component of the machine resonates with certain frequencies which produce the vibration. This causes the machine part to move than usual, which may lead to damage. Since most equipment, especially the mechanical ones often go through resonant frequencies, engineers must be able to design the machine in a manner that its natural frequency differs.

Whenever a piece of equipment generates a higher frequency than normal, a vibration dampener is used to prevent those excess frequencies from damaging the machine parts. This device typically comes in a visco-elastic substance that has properties both of a solid and liquid matter. It is designed to absorb the excess energy produced by vibration. Whenever the machine cannot be made to handle resonant frequencies, it is the vibration dampener that effectively reduces and minimizes the excess energy caused by vibrating parts. Hence, it also reduces wear and tear on the machine.

Apart from installing a vibration dampener that can absorb the resonant frequencies from the machine part, there is also another way to address the problem. It can be done through an installation of a vibration isolation system. Either way, you can rely on our expertise to help you avoid the damaging effects of high levels of vibration on your equipment or machinery.
