Helpful Tips to Troubleshoot Industrial Air Compressor Problems

A number of amazing innovations have been made in developing industrial air compressor accessories and their major components. Each model of air compressor has its own benefits and shortcomings but they all work following the same principle of air compression. They also have common basic parts and accessories they need to work in different applications. Likewise, they face similar common problems and issues, yet there are some certain cases specific to particular units only. Despite this, here are some of the most common problems with industrial air compressors, their probable causes, and the tips on how to fix them.

Low pressure at the point of use

This concern is pretty common among air compressors that can also be due to plenty of reasons. It can be caused by leaks in some areas of industrial air compressor accessories or major parts such as the distribution piping. In this case, it’s imperative to inspect all the connections and valves for possible leakage. One more reason for this is the clogged filter which has to be cleaned or replaced. Or it can be due to a fouled dryer heat exchanger that needs to be cleaned.

Presence of oil in the air lines

The main culprit for this problem is a faulty oil or air separator. Check the separation system and change the separator element if needed. The other potential cause is too much compressor oil. If such is the case, what you need to do is to follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for the correct amount of oil level.

Presence of water in the compressor lines

Same as the case with oil, the existence of water along the compressor lines is most likely caused by failed condensate traps that have to be cleaned or repaired, or better be replaced if needed. Or perhaps it can be due to other possible issues with other industrial air compressor accessories that are undersized or failing and need to be fixed.

If you face any one or more of the problems above and tried to troubleshoot it but still nothing happens, it’s time to call in help from the experts of Air Energy.
