Process tanks are often used interchangeably with storage tanks, which is understandable because they are very similar and sometimes do the same thing. They can be configured in different ways to suit specific applications, depending on several factors like dimension, placement, orientation, and wall configuration. Both are also useful for various industrial applications, including mixing, blending, metering, as well as storage purposes. The kind of material used for making the tank will dictate its suitability for certain applications. When it comes to orientation, the tank comes both as vertical and horizontal. Vertical process tanks can usually be accessed through the ports on its bottom while standing vertically. Single wall tanks are very common and used for many purposes while double-wall tanks are ideal for applications that need higher pressure.



Finally, process tanks can be created using different materials with some of them being made with special linings such as glass lined or protective coatings for certainly unique applications. They can be made with steel which provides amazing physical properties and characteristics. A rolled sheet steel is often used for this purpose but stainless steel can also be used due to its high resistance to corrosion while galvanized steel is great for added protection. Fiberglass reinforced polyester or FRP is another material used to construct the tank because of its lightweight, flexibility, and great strength. Lastly, titanium is also a candidate because it is very strong but also light in weight. It is best for application that involves extreme temperatures and stresses.
