5 Important Aerial Equipment Every Experienced Electrician Team Must Have

Working as an electrician is challenging because you need a highly analytical and calculating mind with powerful physical capabilities to perform aerial cable installations. The best teams have honed their skills and methods countless times, but they wouldn't reach their high skill level without high-quality equipment to develop these aspects.

With this in mind, here are five crucial aerial equipment that every experienced electrician team should possess.

Carabineers

Carabineers are used to connect one piece of equipment to another. They are most commonly used for attaching a person's safety harness to the anchor point of the belay or to connect one piece of equipment to another. Carabineers can be used to clip anchors in a climbing system and linked with a pulley to provide a mechanical advantage when lifting up or to lower someone or equipment. They can also be used in an emergency to clip the harness of a person in free fall.

Telescoping Poles

Telescopic poles are designed to allow the user to shorten the height of the pole by pulling a lever located on the top of the pole. This action makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces and allows for a shorter reach.

These lengthy poles are used in aerial cable installations to make sure that the cable and the pole, the cross arm and the wire attached to it (if any) do not interfere with each other.

Cable Saddles and Rings

Cable saddles and rings slip over the cables to allow the installer to push the cables from the ground up to the pole. The rings have a hole in them that you can secure with a cable tie.

Cable Brackets

Cable brackets are used to attach cables to a post's side and top part. They ensure the cables have proper intensity and will not fidget or move. The brackets allow the wires to relieve tension to avoid breakage during windy situations.

Ladders

All electrician teams have extending ladders with grip ends that clamp to the post for secure climbing. These high-quality steel ladders must have heavy support capabilities to ensure they do not affect or cause emergencies during cable installations.
